Parisian stores Lafayette and Printemps unveil luxurious Christmas displays

Paris is known for its avenues, elegant lifestyle and fine food. But this time of the year, Paris is also known in Europe for its luxurious shop displays. In December, major department stores such as Lafayette and Printemps open their displays to the public, revealing stunning decors and amazing dresses, all created by the world’s most famous designers.

Lafayette, maybe the most famous store of its kind, chose for this year’s Christmas to embellish their windows with the theme “The Beauty and The Beast”, inspired by the movie staring Vincent Cassel and Léa Seydoux. The two actors unveiled the displays and until January 2nd, the fairytale-inspired décor can be admired in the center of Paris.

Don’t stop at the windows, though! Come in and you’ll be faced with a big surprise. In the center of the store, Swatch has added to the traditional huge Christmas tree a watch that animates and sings each hour.

Another famous department store, Printemps, chose Prada to create its displays and the result is just enchanting. Under the theme “Christmas- A Joyful Obsession”, the four displays have 80 white bears in various scenes, from skiing to repairing a Prada gown.

Inside, the store department is all black & white with hints of red and gold, all very stylish and luxurious.

At the opening, Miuccia Prada was accompanied by Gwyneth Paltrow, looking fabulous in a black & white Prada (obviously!) dress.

This year's Christmas is all about style and luxury, but with a slight hint of joy and a generous taste of fairytale. It's refreshing to see that Printemps and Lafayette haven't forgotten that in the end, Christmas is also for children and chose to play with their displays in a fashionable way.

Nevertheless, I'm sure that while we're here, admiring these windows, there are people there already thinking about what the next year's Chritsmas display will bring to Parisians.

Until next time, bisous!
